The process of recruiting 50,000 professionals domestically is ongoing, with a strong focus on enhancing employees’ critical thinking and analytical skills to address complex challenges, said Nitin, CEO of Deloitte South Asia. He clarified that concerns about large-scale job losses due to Artificial Intelligence (AI) are largely unfounded. He also revealed plans to establish a Quantum Center of Excellence in the country.
Deloitte does not view AI as a tool that will reduce jobs; instead, it is being leveraged to improve employee productivity and capabilities. Nitin stated that 30,000 employees have already been trained in AI and steps are being taken to equip another 20,000 employees with similar skills. He also highlighted that nearly one-third of Deloitte’s global workforce is based in India.
He further noted that approximately 9% of the company’s total revenue is being invested in enhancing employee capabilities. According to him, public sector organizations in India face key challenges in adopting AI, particularly in areas such as data security and high implementation costs. Emphasizing the importance of cybersecurity, he remarked that “just as a high-speed car requires a powerful engine, it equally needs strong brakes to ensure safety.”
