Instagram has refreshed its wordmark logo for the first time in nearly a decade. Meta’s Instagram head Adam Mosseri announced the update on Instagram and Threads. The redesign focuses on the typography of the Instagram name, giving the letters a cleaner and more modern appearance while retaining the platform’s familiar script inspired style.
Mosseri said the change was made because the wordmark had remained unchanged for around 10 years and the new design aims to look modern while preserving Instagram’s original identity. The familiar gradient camera icon remains unchanged. The new wordmark has received mixed reactions online, with some users praising its modern look, while others joked that it appears AI-generated. Some even said the redesigned ‘r’ looks like a ‘z’, humorously calling the platform “Instagzam”.
