In a user-friendly move, Microsoft has introduced key changes to the update system of Windows 11, addressing one of the most common frustrations among users. Previously, users had limited flexibility, as pending updates often forced them to install updates before shutting down or restarting their systems. Based on user feedback, Microsoft has now redesigned the update process to provide greater convenience and control.
Under the new system, users can extend update pauses beyond the earlier 35-day limit by renewing the pause every cycle. Additionally, a new feature allows users to schedule updates by selecting a specific date on the calendar, ensuring updates occur at a convenient time without interrupting work. Importantly, users can now restart or shut down their devices without being forced to install updates immediately. This feature is currently available to Windows Insider and experimental channel users and is expected to roll out to all users in the coming days.
