Instagram is testing a new account level label called “AI creator” to improve transparency around AI generated content. This feature allows creators who frequently use AI tools to identify themselves, with the label appearing on their profile and alongside their posts across Feed, Reels and Explore sections.
The new label builds on the platform’s existing “AI info” tags, which can be applied manually or automatically when AI generated content is detected. When both labels are present, the “AI info” tag takes priority at the content level, indicating a layered approach that distinguishes between overall creator activity and individual posts.
Instagram clarified that this feature is optional and currently limited to select users as part of a testing phase. The company emphasized that enabling the label will not affect content reach or distribution. Instead, it aims to help users better understand how content is created and to strengthen trust between creators and their audience.
