India's Unified Payments Interface (UPI), which has transformed digital payments in the country, has expanded its global footprint with the launch of services in Greece. The rollout took place in Athens during Union Commerce and Industry Minister Piyush Goyal's official visit. The service has been introduced through a partnership between Eurobank and NPCI International Payments Limited (NIPL).
With this launch, eligible users can make secure, fast and low-cost digital payments in Greece using UPI. The platform is already operational in countries including Singapore, the UAE, France, Mauritius, Nepal, Bhutan, Qatar, Sri Lanka and Cambodia. Greece becomes the 10th country to support UPI services, making international digital transactions more convenient for Indian travellers and businesses.
