Google has officially introduced its Gemini assistant in the Chrome browser for users in India. The artificial intelligence-powered feature first launched in a few global markets in September 2025 and is now being expanded to additional regions. In Chrome, Gemini appears as a side panel on the right side of the browser, allowing users to ask questions and get answers related to the webpage they are viewing.
The feature is built on Google’s latest Gemini 3.1 model, which uses advanced reasoning and intelligence to provide accurate responses. It can analyse the content of a webpage, gather information from the internet, and even understand multiple open tabs to answer user queries more effectively. Google has also added support for eight Indian languages, including Hindi, Bengali, Gujarati, Kannada, Malayalam, Marathi, Telugu and Tamil, making the tool easier to use for many people in India.
However, some features available in the United States are not yet included in the Indian version. The Auto Browse option, which allows the assistant to control the browser and perform tasks automatically, is currently missing. The feature will initially be available only on desktop and iOS devices and can be accessed by users who subscribe to Google AI Pro or Ultra plans. The tool also includes built-in image creation and editing support along with improved security protections.
