US-based IT major Cognizant has announced plans to acquire Astria as part of its strategy to strengthen artificial intelligence capabilities. The announcement was made during the company’s quarterly results, though the deal value was not officially disclosed. However, reports suggest the acquisition could be worth around $600 million (approximately ₹5,690 crore), highlighting Cognizant’s growing investment in AI-driven services.
Earlier this year, Cognizant revealed plans to hire up to 25,000 freshers. In the March quarter alone, the company’s workforce increased by 6,000, taking the total employee count to 3,57,600. Despite being US-headquartered, Cognizant continues to have a significant employee base in India, reinforcing its strong presence in the country’s IT sector.
