A San Francisco-based startup named Deveillance has introduced a new artificial intelligence powered anti-surveillance device called Spectre I. The portable table-top gadget is designed to prevent nearby microphones from recording audio. According to the company, the device emits power-efficient omnidirectional signals that are inaudible to humans but distort the sound captured by microphones within a two-meter range. The company claims the technology can effectively stop unwanted audio recordings in its surrounding area.
Deveillance also states that Spectre I can detect nearby microphones and log information about them using advanced artificial intelligence, signal processing, and physics-based technology. However, the company has not yet revealed full technical details or independent proof supporting its claims. The device is currently available for pre-order at a price of 1,199 dollars, and the startup plans to begin shipping it during the second half of 2026.
