Smriti Mandhana Creates History, Becomes Leading Run-Scorer in Women’s T20I Cricket

India’s star opener Smriti Mandhana has added another remarkable milestone to her international career. During the 2026 Asian Games women’s cricket semifinal against Bangladesh, Mandhana became the highest run-scorer in Women’s T20 Internationals, surpassing New Zealand’s Suzie Bates. Bates had accumulated 4,758 runs in the format, while Mandhana moved past that mark during India’s chase to take the top position on the all-time list.

Mandhana scored a quick 37 off just 19 deliveries against Bangladesh, hitting five fours and two sixes. Her innings took her T20I tally to 4,788 runs, according to the latest figures reported after the milestone. India captain Harmanpreet Kaur is also among the leading run-scorers in women’s T20Is, with 4,287 runs. Mandhana’s latest achievement adds to an already notable year in which she has also broken major records in women’s international cricket.
