Cricket fans are eagerly anticipating the start of the IPL 2026 season, set to begin in March. However, discussions among fans occasionally include allegations of match-fixing. Former Team India cricketer Parthiv Patel has strongly dismissed such claims, stating that match-fixing is impossible.
Speaking on a podcast, Parthiv Patel said, “Not a single IPL match has ever been fixed. The outcome of a match is never predetermined. All records, including phone calls, emails and hotel movements, are closely monitored. There is very tight security in place.”
He added, “Everyone requires accreditation. Even the captain cannot access the field or dressing room without proper accreditation. People often make quick accusations about match-fixing, not just in the IPL but in international cricket as well. However, proving such claims is extremely difficult.” Referring to the 2013 IPL match-fixing scandal, he noted that Chennai Super Kings and Rajasthan Royals were suspended for two seasons. Parthiv Patel has previously played for Royal Challengers Bangalore, Mumbai Indians and Chennai Super Kings and he currently serves as the assistant coach for Gujarat Titans.
