Pakistan suffered a crushing defeat against India in a T20 World Cup match, triggering sharp criticism from former players. Following the loss, former fast bowler Shoaib Akhtar launched a scathing attack on Pakistan Cricket Board Chairman Naqvi, questioning his understanding of the game and leadership of the board. Akhtar alleged that an inexperienced person was appointed to head the PCB and asked whether the chairman truly understood how a cricket team should be run.
Akhtar also took aim at the team management for projecting Babar Azam as a superstar despite the team’s inability to win matches. He said the repeated failures reflected poor planning and decision-making at the top, adding that accountability was missing within the Pakistan Cricket Board after such disappointing performances on the world stage.
