The upcoming Hockey Asia Champions Trophy will be a memorable occasion for Indian men’s hockey captain Harmanpreet Singh, as Punjab prepares to host international hockey after a gap of 17 years. The tournament is scheduled to begin on October 27 and continue until November 5, with Jalandhar and Mohali serving as the host cities. Punjab last hosted an international hockey tournament in 2009, when the Gold Cup competition was held. The return of international hockey to his home state makes this edition particularly special for Harmanpreet and the Indian team.
Harmanpreet expressed his excitement about representing India in front of his home crowd for the first time in Punjab. He said the occasion would be special for the entire team, as the players would get an opportunity to wear the Indian jersey and compete in the state. The Indian captain also revealed that his family would attend the match, giving them their first opportunity to watch him play for the country in person. The tournament is expected to provide a significant boost to hockey fans in Punjab while giving the Indian team an opportunity to perform in front of a passionate home audience.
