Mitchell Santner Rejects BBL Offer

New Zealand’s white-ball captain Mitchell Santner has made a significant decision by turning down an offer to play in the upcoming Big Bash League. Adelaide Strikers had approached the all-rounder with a contract, but Santner declined it to focus on his international commitments. New Zealand have a demanding schedule ahead, including a multi-format home series against India followed by a Test tour of Australia. Santner said international cricket remains his priority and that he wants to be fully prepared to represent New Zealand in every match during this crucial period.

New Zealand are scheduled to host India in a lengthy multi-format series beginning in October, with the two teams set to play five ODIs, five T20Is and two Tests. After that assignment, the Black Caps will travel to Australia for a four-Test series. The packed international calendar is expected to keep New Zealand busy until the first week of January. The Big Bash League and South Africa’s SA20 will take place around the same period as New Zealand’s Super Smash, meaning several centrally contracted Kiwi players could also have to manage their domestic and international commitments.
