Indian Olympic medallist Mirabai Chanu created history once again at the 2026 Commonwealth Games in Glasgow. Competing in the women’s 48 kg category, she lifted 85 kg in the snatch to set a new Commonwealth record. After failing her first attempt at 82 kg, she successfully lifted it in her second try and went on to break the record with her final lift. Having previously won gold in the 2018 and 2022 editions, Mirabai reaffirmed her dominance on the global stage.
In the men’s category, India’s Chanambam Rishikant Singh secured a silver medal with a total lift of 264 kg.
