Japan fought back twice to secure a thrilling 2-2 draw against the Netherlands in a FIFA World Cup 2026 Group F encounter. After a scoreless first half, Netherlands captain Virgil van Dijk broke the deadlock in the 51st minute with a header. Japan responded quickly in the 57th minute, as Keito Nakamura scored a stunning long range goal to level the match at 1-1.
The Netherlands regained the lead in the 64th minute through Crysencio Summerville, making it 2-1. However, Japan refused to give up and found a dramatic equaliser in the 89th minute when Daichi Kamada's touch helped the ball into the net following Koki Ogawa's header. The match ended 2-2, with Japan earning a valuable point after an impressive comeback.
