

India delivered one of its greatest-ever performances at the Commonwealth Games in Glasgow, with the boxing contingent producing a historic medal haul on Saturday. Indian boxers won an incredible seven gold and three silver medals in a single day, setting a new national record. Priti Pawar, Jaismine Lamboria, Sakshi Choudhary, Priya Ghanghas and Arundhati Choudhary clinched gold medals in the women's events, while Sachin Siwach and Ankush Panghal emerged victorious in the men's finals. Olympic medallist Lovlina Borgohain settled for silver after finishing runner-up, while Jadumani Singh and Narendra Berwal also earned silver medals.
India's para athletes added to the celebrations with another remarkable performance. Soman Rana claimed gold in the men's F57 shot put, while Shubham Juyal secured silver. Praveen Chithravel won silver in the para triple jump and Selva Prabhu earned bronze. Tejaswin Shankar scripted history by becoming the first Indian to win a Commonwealth Games medal in the decathlon, claiming bronze despite battling a knee injury. In judo, Unnati Sharma bagged bronze in the women's 63kg category. India's para contingent has already surpassed all previous Commonwealth Games performances with an outstanding tally of three gold, two silver and two bronze medals.
