The Indian men’s football team qualified for the AFC U20 Asian Cup main tournament after a 20-year gap. In their final Group B qualifying match on Sunday, India defeated Bangladesh 3-0. With two wins from three matches and six points, India finished second in the group and secured a place in the main tournament.
In the match against Bangladesh, Danny Meitei Laishram scored India’s opening goal in the 25th minute, while Vishal Yadav doubled the lead in the 60th minute. Substitute Md Arbash scored India’s third goal in the 79th minute to seal the victory. India last featured in the AFC U20 Asian Cup main tournament in 2006.
