'Give Bumrah Six Months to a Year Off': Karsan Ghavri

Former India cricketer Karsan Ghavri has urged the BCCI to prioritise Jasprit Bumrah's long-term fitness instead of rushing him back after injury. Bumrah was ruled out of the Test series against Sri Lanka after suffering a recurrence of the injury he sustained during the second ODI against England. Ghavri said the star pacer should be given a break of six months or even a year if required, insisting that he should return only after regaining full fitness.

Ghavri also questioned the current workload management of India's pace spearhead and suggested restricting Bumrah primarily to Test cricket. He recommended that experienced pacers Mohammed Shami and Bhuvneshwar Kumar, who performed consistently in the IPL, be considered for national selection. Ghavri added that rotating Shami and Mohammed Siraj in the Test side would reduce Bumrah's workload and help prolong his international career.
