Happy Journey Movie Review: Did the Comedy and Emotions of ‘Happy Journey’ Win Over the Audience?

Release Date: September 18, 2026

Starring: Vamshidhar Goud, Payal Radhakrishna, Ravi Siva Teja, Sunaina Badam, Annapurnamma, Aamani and others

Director: Abhiramm Naidu

Producer: Balaji Gutta

Music Director: Shekar Chandra

Cinematographer: Subramaniyan Manigandan

Editor: Chota K. Prasad

Story:
‘Happy Journey’ is a female-oriented film that follows a group of women from different walks of life who win a trip to Europe through a lucky draw. Savitri, Chamundeswari, Nayana, Srilatha, Tanvi, Divya and Vihaana embark on the journey, guided by Govind and Apparao from Greatandhra Travels. What begins as a fun vacation gradually turns into a journey of self-realisation, emotional discoveries and family reunions.

Plus Points:
The film has good intentions and carries a message that can connect with a section of the audience. A few entertaining moments in both halves work well, while the conversations between Vamsi and the female leads provide some light-hearted fun. The climax twist is also neatly handled. Annapurnamma stands out in a modern role, with Aamani, Jhansi, Payal Radhakrishna and Sunaina providing good support. Vamsi delivers humour through his comic timing and shares good chemistry with Ravi Siva Teja.

Minus Points:
The film struggles to maintain a consistent flow because of its uneven screenplay. Some unnecessary and repetitive scenes dilute the impact of the better moments. The emotional depth intended by the story is not fully realised, as the individual problems of the female characters could have been explored in greater detail. The balance between comedy and emotions is also inconsistent. Some misunderstandings are resolved too quickly in the final act, making a few scenes feel hurried and artificial. Certain portions also come across as preachy.

Technical Aspects:
Shekar Chandra’s music is mostly effective, except for the song placed immediately after the interval. Subramaniyan Manigandan’s cinematography is a major highlight, with the European locations captured beautifully. Editing is satisfactory and the production values are solid. Hemant Dhome’s story has potential, but the screenplay needed more depth and cohesion. Director Abhiramm Naidu handles some comedy portions well, but the overall narrative could have been tighter and more seamless.

Verdict:
‘Happy Journey’ is an uneven ride that works in parts. While some fun moments, performances and the climax twist make an impression, the inconsistent screenplay, repetitive scenes and rushed emotional portions limit the overall impact. The performances, particularly from Annapurnamma and the supporting cast, add value, but the film falls short of delivering the emotional rollercoaster it aims for.
