Story:

Justin (Nivin Pauly) is a middle-aged man who runs a catering business and lives with his family. He remains unmarried for a personal reason. Things change when a new family moves into his neighbourhood. Ashley (Mamitha Baiju), a college student from the family, gradually becomes friends with Justin and eventually falls in love with him.

Although Justin initially struggles to accept her feelings, he eventually reciprocates them. The rest of the story revolves around how Justin and Ashley deal with their families and try to convince them to accept their relationship and marriage.

Plus Points:

Bethlehem Kudumba Unit is an entertaining Malayalam rom-com that delivers plenty of clean and situational comedy. The film maintains a fun mood for most of its runtime, with several genuinely hilarious sequences. The Telugu dubbing is also handled well and enhances the overall viewing experience.

The first half is particularly strong, featuring numerous comedy scenes that effectively keep the audience entertained. The humour remains largely wholesome, making the film suitable for family audiences. Director Girish A. D. deserves credit for maintaining the entertainment quotient without relying heavily on crude humour.

Nivin Pauly delivers a convincing performance as a middle-aged man dealing with emotional conflicts. His chemistry with Mamitha Baiju is one of the film’s major strengths. Mamitha is equally impressive and fits comfortably into her role.

Sangeeth Prathap is effective as Joel, Justin’s younger brother, and adds considerably to the comedy. Roshan Shanavas makes an impact as Glikson in a few scenes, while the supporting cast also performs well.

Minus Points:

The film attempts to balance its comedy with emotional drama, but the emotional portions are not as effective as the humorous sequences. The second half also witnesses occasional pacing issues.

The climax feels slightly stretched, with a few scenes that could have been trimmed to make the overall narrative more crisp.

Technical Aspects:

Vishnu Vijay’s music is pleasant, while the Telugu versions of the songs are handled decently. Ajmal Sabu’s cinematography beautifully captures the scenic locations of Kerala. The editing is effective in the first half, although the second half would have benefited from tighter cuts.

Director Girish A. D. once again demonstrates his ability to create engaging comedy sequences. Following Premalu, he delivers another enjoyable romantic comedy with a largely clean and entertaining treatment.

Overall, Bethlehem Kudumba Unit is an enjoyable rom-com that offers plenty of comedy and entertaining moments. Nivin Pauly and Mamitha Baiju deliver strong performances, while Girish A. D. keeps the proceedings engaging with his trademark humour. Though the emotional portions and climax could have been handled more effectively, the film remains a clean comedy-drama that can be enjoyed with the entire family.
