YSR Congress Party president and former Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister YS Jagan Mohan Reddy has accused the State Election Commission (SEC) of failing to protect the democratic process during the recent municipal elections. In a post on social media, he alleged that polling irregularities and attacks on YSRCP agents took place in several parts of the state. Referring to Pulivendula, Jagan claimed that party agents were prevented from entering polling booths, attacked and removed from polling stations. He further alleged that voters' slips were snatched and that booth capturing and rigging took place with the support of election officials and police personnel. According to him, the party has video evidence of these incidents.
Jagan questioned the SEC's decision to order repolling in only four booths in Pulivendula, despite his claim that irregularities occurred in 70 of the 80 polling booths. He also alleged that similar incidents were reported in several municipal corporations and municipalities across Andhra Pradesh, including Kadapa, Anantapur, Tirupati, Kurnool, Visakhapatnam and Vijayawada. Calling the SEC's response inadequate, he questioned whether the elections could be considered free and fair. Jagan said the YSRCP would pursue legal action and submit all available evidence to the courts. These allegations are based on his public statement, and the claims have not been independently established in the supplied material.
