A satirical political movement called the Cockroach Janata Party (CJP) has gone viral across social media, especially among India’s Gen Z youth. The movement was reportedly started by Abhijeet Deepke, a 30-year-old political strategist and journalism graduate from Pune, who later pursued Public Relations studies at Boston University in the United States.
The party was created as a sarcastic response to comments comparing unemployed youth and activists to “cockroaches.” Through sharp digital campaigns and a provocative manifesto, CJP has positioned itself as a voice for frustrated young Indians facing unemployment and political disillusionment. The movement has already attracted lakhs of supporters online, with many political observers calling it a sign of rising Gen Z political activism in India.
