Andhra Pradesh Deputy Chief Minister Pawan Kalyan emphasized that tenant farmers must also get justice after the recent cyclone caused widespread crop damage. During a review meeting at Mangalagiri, he expressed concern that around 5,000 acres of farmland in Nagayalanka and Koduru mandals were submerged due to the non-functioning of outfall sluices. He criticized past governments for neglecting the system, saying the state now has to spend ₹50 crore to restore them.
Speaking about development in coastal areas, Pawan assured, “The long-pending dream of Etimoga–Edurumondi bridge will soon be a reality. ₹109 crore from NABARD has already been sanctioned, and the project will be completed on schedule.” Recalling his recent visit to the cyclone-hit areas of Avanigadda, he said, “I noticed that many affected farmers are tenant farmers. They too deserve justice and compensation.” He directed officials to identify every affected tenant farmer - both registered and unregistered - to ensure no one is left behind.
He also urged the Forest Department to reconsider collecting fees from devotees visiting Hamsaladeevi, a sacred confluence point, noting that “even if the fee is small, it affects people’s sentiments.”
