The rejection of AICC Telangana in-charge Meenakshi Natarajan’s Rajya Sabha nomination has triggered a nationwide political debate. The issue is linked to a legal petition filed in Telangana, where she was issued only summons in a related case rather than being an accused in direct criminal charges.
The petition, filed by E. Sriletha before a Hyderabad court, sought action against several Congress leaders, including Meenakshi Natarajan, over allegations linked to a sexual harassment and threat case involving Narayanpet leader Kumbham Shivakumar Reddy. The petitioner also demanded ₹10 crore compensation. The court issued summons to multiple leaders. Meanwhile, the Election Commission reportedly rejected her nomination citing non-disclosure of details related to this case.
