The Tamil Nadu elections were held just last week, and actor-turned-politician Vijay contested for the first time. Around the same time, a film titled TN 2026, which appears to target him, was released in theatres before the elections. However, the movie did not create much impact during its theatrical run. Now, even before the election results are announced, the film is gearing up for its OTT release in a very short span.
The film is associated with Tamil actor and politician Vijay, who recently launched his party Tamil Vetri Kazhagam and entered politics. TN 2026 is said to be a political satire focusing on a popular film star who enters politics and starts a new party, highlighting the challenges he faces. The story was provided by comedian Thambi Ramaiah, while his son Umakathi Ramaiah directed the film. Actor Natarajan played the lead role. The movie, which released in theatres on April 10, will start streaming from April 30 on multiple platforms like Amazon Prime Video, Aha, Simply South, Shorts Flix and AP International.
Though some fans claimed the film was made to target Vijay, Thambi Ramaiah clarified that it is purely fictional. Since the film failed to impress audiences in theatres, it remains to be seen how it performs on OTT platforms. There is also no confirmation yet about whether it will be released in Telugu.
