The Central Government is planning to introduce hybrid ATMs soon to make everyday cash transactions more convenient for the public. These ATMs are expected to dispense small denomination notes such as ₹10, ₹20, and ₹50, which are often in short supply.
Under the proposed system, when users deposit higher denomination notes, the ATMs will be capable of returning smaller notes along with coins, depending on availability and requirement. This move is aimed at reducing difficulties faced by the public in obtaining change for daily use.
To address the growing demand for small currency and coins, the Centre is also likely to request the Reserve Bank of India to further increase the printing and minting of smaller denominations. Officials believe these measures will help ease the ongoing shortage of small notes and coins across the country.
