A tragic incident occurred on Tuesday in Dabra town of Gwalior district, Madhya Pradesh. During a Kalash Yatra marking the inauguration of the Navgrah Temple, a sudden stampede broke out, resulting in the death of a 70-year-old woman and injuries to seven other women, including a minor girl. Four of the injured were immediately shifted to Gwalior for treatment, while the remaining three are receiving care in Dabra.
According to Gwalior Collector Ruchika Chauhan, a large number of women had gathered at Dabra Stadium on Tuesday morning to participate in the Kalash Yatra. While the distribution of the kalashams was underway, a surge in the crowd led to a stampede, causing the unfortunate death of the 70-year-old woman. Authorities swiftly brought the situation under control and ensured that the Kalash Yatra continued along the pre-planned routes.
Eyewitnesses reported that the large number of women pushing against each other contributed to the chaotic situation. Following the incident, the Kalash Yatra proceeded along the designated paths and reached the Navgrah Temple safely, the district administration confirmed.
