A tragic road accident occurred past midnight when a private travel bus carrying passengers from Nellore to Hyderabad lost control after a tyre burst and crashed into an oncoming container lorry. The incident took place around 2:00 am on Wednesday near Shirivella Metta in Shirivella mandal of Nandyal district. The bus reportedly veered off the road, crossed the divider, and rammed head-on into the lorry, resulting in a massive fire.
Three persons — the bus driver, the lorry driver, and the cleaner — died on the spot as the vehicles were engulfed in flames. Several passengers narrowly escaped after a DCM driver passing by stopped his vehicle and helped break the bus windows. Over ten passengers sustained minor injuries while jumping out through the windows. Both vehicles were completely gutted, and passengers’ luggage was reduced to ashes. Police rushed to the spot, initiated rescue operations, and shifted the injured to Nandyal Government Hospital. An investigation is underway.
