Local body election activity is in full swing across Telangana, and with several schools being used as polling stations, the state government has announced six consecutive days of holidays for these institutions. For the first phase of polling, schools will remain closed on December 10 and 11, as directed by district collectors. The second phase naturally includes December 13 (Second Saturday) and December 14 (Sunday), adding two more holidays. For the third phase, schools will again be closed on December 16 and 17, bringing the total break to six days.
These extended holidays have been arranged to ensure smooth election management, including preparation and movement of polling materials. Additionally, the government has declared a paid holiday for government and private employees, as well as workers, in polling areas on December 11. Officials stated that these steps were taken to facilitate uninterrupted election operations.
With this unexpected break, students and teachers now get to enjoy a short vacation. Many children are already excited about having six continuous days away from school.
