The Telangana government has issued an official order outlining preparations for Census 2027, which will be conducted across the state in two phases. In the first phase, from April 1 to September 30, 2026, data related to houses, buildings, and other structures will be collected. This phase will focus on housing conditions and infrastructure details.
The second phase will begin in February 2027, with population enumeration scheduled to conclude by midnight on March 1. Notably, the upcoming census will also include a caste-based enumeration, to be carried out alongside population counting.
The entire census process will be conducted through digital methods. As part of the preparations, officials have been instructed to update village, mandal, and district boundaries, appoint enumerators and supervisors, and ensure proper training for all personnel involved.
The government has clearly stated that no changes should be made to district or constituency boundaries until the census process is fully completed.
With the possibility of delimitation of Lok Sabha and Assembly constituencies after the census, the Census 2027 exercise has gained significant importance.
