Telangana is set to receive another Amrit Bharat Express train, enhancing long-distance travel options for passengers. Prime Minister Narendra Modi will flag off four Amrit Bharat Express trains across the country on January 23, 2026, from Thiruvananthapuram, Kerala. Among them is the Thiruvananthapuram–Charlapalli Amrit Bharat Express, which will become the second such train for Telangana, following the existing Charlapalli–Muzaffarpur service.
The new train, numbered 17041, will depart from Charlapalli every Tuesday at 7:15 am and reach Thiruvananthapuram on Wednesday at 2:45 pm. The return service, numbered 17042, will depart Thiruvananthapuram on Thursday at 11:30 pm and arrive at Charlapalli on Saturday at 5:30 pm. Designed with modern, indigenous technology, the non-AC Amrit Bharat Express offers affordable and comfortable travel with amenities such as foldable snack tables, mobile and bottle holders, radiant floor strips, improved seating and sleeping arrangements, modern toilets, fire safety systems, facilities for persons with disabilities, fast charging points, and a pantry car. The train will pass through key stations across Telangana, Andhra Pradesh, Tamil Nadu, and Kerala. Union Minister G. Kishan Reddy thanked Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Railway Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw for allocating another Amrit Bharat Express to Telangana.
