The dense winter fog, which blankets northern India each year, has once again made its presence felt. On Sunday morning, the city of Agra was shrouded in thick fog, rendering the Taj Mahal, one of the wonders of the world, nearly invisible. Even from the Taj Viewpoint, the iconic monument appeared faint and almost obscured.
Dense fog continues to affect cities like Agra, Ayodhya, and Moradabad. The minimum temperature was recorded at 8°C in Ayodhya and 10°C in Moradabad. The situation in the national capital Delhi is even worse, with the Air Quality Index (AQI) reaching 390 at 7 a.m., falling under the 'Very Poor' category.
In areas such as Akshardham, Ghazipur, and Anand Vihar, AQI surged to 438, classified as 'Severe.' As a result, GRAP Stage-4 measures were implemented, including restrictions on non-essential construction and certain diesel vehicles. The thick fog has disappointed tourists and locals alike, with memes titled “Taj Mahal or Fog Mahal?” going viral on social media.
