The Supreme Court will hear the water dispute between Andhra Pradesh and Telangana today. The Telangana government has filed a writ petition under Article 32, requesting the court to stop the Polavaram – Nallamala Sagar (Banakacharla) link project proposed by Andhra Pradesh. Telangana has alleged that construction work is being carried out illegally in the name of diverting floodwater.
The petition was earlier heard by a bench led by Chief Justice of India Suryakanth. During the hearing, the court directed the Telangana government to file a detailed special suit with complete information related to the issue. Based on this, the matter is now scheduled for further hearing in the Supreme Court.
