

Minister Satyakumar Yadav stated that Andhra Pradesh has secured a sixth position in the field of organ donation. According to the latest statistics released by the central government, the state ranks sixth nationwide in organ donation. On Tuesday, the minister reviewed the activities of the Jeevan Dan initiative. During the review, he highlighted that in the past two months, 64 individuals in the state received a new lease of life and the response to organ donation has significantly increased compared to previous years. He also noted that awareness about organ donation is growing particularly among the youth and middle-aged population.
Among the 5,000 individuals waiting for organ transplants, those under 50 years of age constitute the majority, the minister revealed. Last year, 301 organ transplant procedures were successfully carried out and organs were collected from 93 brain-dead patients.
Minister Satyakumar Yadav, along with officials, emphasized the need to further increase the number of organ transplant surgeries in government hospitals. He instructed authorities to take necessary measures and develop a comprehensive plan to enhance organ donation infrastructure and services across the state.
