Heavy traffic congestion was reported on the Hyderabad – Vijayawada National Highway, especially near the Pantangi toll plaza in Choutuppal mandal of Yadadri district. Due to the festive rush, vehicles were stuck for nearly two kilometers from the toll plaza, moving very slowly and causing long delays for travelers.
With Bhogi, Sankranti and Kanuma festivals, many people from cities traveled to their native places. A large number of travelers also headed to Andhra Pradesh to watch traditional cockfights held during Sankranti. People from Telangana and other states joined this festive movement, leading to record-level traffic over four days. As a result, several toll plazas witnessed long queues of vehicles and highways turned extremely busy due to the mass movement from cities to villages.
