Sankranti Return Journey: Private Travels Looting Passengers

In Vijayawada, private travel operators are facing criticism for charging very high fares from passengers. Travelers say that buses running to Hyderabad and Bengaluru are collecting much more than normal ticket prices, especially in AC sleeper and semi-sleeper categories.

For the Vijayawada–Hyderabad route, private travels are charging around Rs.2700 for AC sleeper and Rs.1700 for semi-sleeper buses. On the Vijayawada–Bengaluru route, AC sleeper fares are going up to nearly Rs.4000.iw. Passengers complain that these fares are almost four times higher when compared to the travel distance and are urging authorities to take strict action against such overcharging.
