A Bolivian Air Force Hercules aircraft crashed shortly after takeoff on Friday near El Alto, close to the capital La Paz. The crash occurred due to a technical malfunction, resulting in a major tragedy.
Authorities confirmed that 15 people died and 30 others were injured. The plane was carrying new currency from the Bolivian Central Bank when the accident happened. Rescue teams and police rushed to the site, and the injured were taken to nearby hospitals for treatment.
The crash occurred in a populated area, raising concerns that the death toll could rise. As a precaution, El Alto International Airport has been temporarily closed, according to Bolivia’s aviation authorities.
