The group carefully planned and carried out the operation, allegedly inspired by the show's theme of intricate heists. Among the accused are people known as Arpith (Professor), Prabath (Amanda), and Abbas (Freddy), who based their roles and tactics on those of the well-known Spanish crime drama.
The gang reportedly pretended to be businessmen and used social media sites to reach victims and entice them with phony stock market and investment schemes. According to reports, they set up a sophisticated online presence that gave the impression that their activities were genuine, which led to numerous individuals making large financial investments.
The suspects were apprehended following a coordinated investigation by Hyderabad police and cybercrime officials following several complaints. Authorities disclosed that by using numerous phony businesses to defraud people, the accused had grown their network throughout two states.
