The L&T Metro Rail Hyderabad Limited Phase-1 takeover process by the Telangana government has gained momentum, with discussions underway to complete it by March 31. Senior officials held key meetings at the Secretariat and later at Metro Rail Bhavan in Begumpet to finalize modalities. As part of the initial agreement, around 269 acres of land were allocated to the metro project, out of which 267 acres were handed over for infrastructure and commercial development. These included land for depots and station-related facilities across major corridors.
Key depot developments were carried out at Uppal and Miyapur, while commercial complexes were developed at areas such as Punjagutta, Erramanzil, Moosarambagh, HITEC City, and Raidurg. Some land parcels were also sub-leased to private firms for long-term use, generating funds for the project. With the takeover, all movable and immovable assets of the metro will be transferred to the government, paving the way for faster expansion in the future.
