Union Railway Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw conducted a high-level review meeting with officials to assess preparedness for the 2026 summer travel rush. Keeping in view the surge in passenger demand, Indian Railways has planned an extensive operation of 18,262 summer special train trips between April 15 and July 15. So far, 11,878 trips have already been notified, with the remaining services expected to be announced soon.
To ensure smooth travel, special arrangements have been made at key stations including New Delhi, Mumbai, Surat, Ahmedabad, and Bengaluru. Authorities are implementing real-time crowd monitoring, deploying RPF personnel for better crowd control, and ensuring systematic boarding at stations like Udhna in Surat. Additionally, the South Central Railway zone alone will operate around 1,184 trips. Officials stated that the primary goal is to provide safe and comfortable travel for passengers heading to their hometowns during the summer season.
