A major fire broke out in the forests of Horsley Hills, a famous tourist destination in Annamaya district. Officials said that the fire broke out after unidentified people set fire to a sericulture farm at the bottom of the hill in the section limits of B. Kothakota mandal. The fire, which started from Nayanibavi, Gattu, and Soorapuvaripalle areas, spread to Gattukonda, Mukkonda, and Gurrapuguttala. The fire spread rapidly due to the abundance of dry leaves and grass.
According to local information, more than 600 acres of forest had been burnt till night. Wild animals ran away in fear of their lives due to the fire, and some animals seem to have been caught in the fire. Forest officials are working hard to control the fire. Officials revealed that the fire at the sericulture farm has been completely extinguished.
