Lenskart has released a revised style guide following social media backlash over its employee dress code policies. The company clarified that it respects all cultural and religious symbols, including bindi, tilak, hijab, and turban. In its statement, Lenskart emphasized that employees’ personal beliefs and traditions are valued. Items such as bindi, mangalsutra, kada, hijab, and turban are fully accepted under the updated guidelines.
The controversy arose after an older style guide reportedly allowed hijabs but restricted Hindu symbols like bindi and tilak, leading to widespread criticism online. Many users even called for a boycott of the brand. Responding to the issue, founder and CEO Peyush Bansal stated that the document in question was outdated and that the company now embraces inclusivity across all traditions.
