The Athletics Federation of India has taken a pivotal decision: it is set to conduct DNA tests on all athletes across the country. The Federation has decided to carry out these tests during the upcoming Federation Cup competitions, scheduled to be held in Ranchi next month. Through this process, genetic information pertaining to every athlete will be collected and subsequently utilized for the future development of sports.
The collected data will be employed for research purposes, injury prevention, and the development of scientific training methodologies. In particular, specialized 'SRY' gene tests will be conducted on female athletes to ensure that, in the women's category, only those who are biologically female compete. It is anticipated that this decision will contribute to enhancing transparency and fairness within the realm of sports.
