The Andhra Pradesh government has made a key appointment by naming Justice C.H. Manavendranath Roy as the Executive Chairman of the AP State Legal Services Authority. The official notification was issued on Monday by the State Law Department Secretary, Gottapu Pratibhadevi. Justice Manavendranath Roy, who was recently transferred from the Gujarat High Court to the Andhra Pradesh High Court, is currently one of the senior-most judges after the Chief Justice. Traditionally, the senior-most judge is appointed as the Executive Chairman of the Legal Services Authority, and the government has followed the same convention in this appointment.
He succeeds Justice Ravinath Tilhari, who previously held the position. With Justice Manavendranath Roy taking charge, it is expected that the AP Legal Services Authority will gain new momentum in providing accessible legal aid and justice to the public.
