A significant step has been taken towards further strengthening the Indian Air Force. The Indian Defence Procurement Board has approved the purchase of another 114 Rafale fighter jets. This deal, worth approximately ₹3.25 lakh crore, requires final approval from the Defence Acquisition Council and the Cabinet Committee. It is reported that the agreement is likely to be finalized during French President Macron's visit to India this month.
These Rafale jets will be manufactured with over 60 percent indigenous content in collaboration with the French company Dassault Aviation. With this purchase, the number of Rafale fighter jets in the Indian Air Force will reach 176. Defence experts believe that this will give a boost to the Make in India initiative and further strengthen the country's defence capabilities.
