The state government is preparing plans to expand the IT corridor in the capital region. The Telangana State Industrial Infrastructure Corporation (TGIIC) is taking steps to develop more IT companies and clusters on government lands located in the Serilingampally, Gandipet, and Rajendranagar mandals of Ranga Reddy district.
Recently, land owned by TGIIC near Gachibowli was auctioned, and the price crossed ₹170 crore per acre. Following this development, officials are considering expanding the IT corridor further in the surrounding areas.
At the same time, authorities have identified attempts to illegally claim government lands. Officials say that nearly 60 percent of the agricultural lands in villages around Hyderabad were originally granted as donations during the Nizam era. Since many of those lands had no legal heirs and the revenue records were later regularized, a large portion of them came under government ownership. However, some individuals are allegedly producing fabricated documents claiming they received those lands from Nizam descendants through GPA agreements and are approaching courts.
Disputes are currently ongoing over about 180 acres of government land in three villages of Serilingampally mandal. Similarly, private individuals are claiming rights over nearly 200 acres of land in four villages of Gandipet mandal.
To protect government lands and lakes from encroachments, officials have started digital surveys. With the help of advanced equipment, authorities aim to identify the extent of encroachments and take necessary action.
