The state government has decided to provide free electricity to handloom and power loom workers. As promised during the elections, handloom workers will receive up to 200 units of free power per month, while power loom units will be given up to 500 units.
The identification of eligible weaver families across the state has been completed. With funds allocated in the latest budget, the scheme is set to come into effect from April 1.
Textiles Minister Savitha, expressing gratitude on behalf of weaver families, thanked Chief Minister Chandrababu for implementing the promise. The move is expected to support the handloom sector and reduce the financial burden on workers.
