A fire broke out at King George Hospital (KGH) in Visakhapatnam, with minor flames erupting in the cardiology department, triggering immediate alarm. Firefighters rushed to the scene upon receiving the alert and swiftly targeted the affected area to prevent the fire from spreading. They successfully contained the blaze and averted a major disaster. Hospital staff, doctors, and patients were quickly evacuated to safe zones away from the incident site. The exact cause of the fire is yet to be determined, but fortunately, there were no casualties. The hospital superintendent responded by stating, "We will conduct a thorough investigation and share complete details soon."
Last June, another fire incident rocked KGH when flames broke out in a ventilator machine, causing widespread panic. Thick smoke filled the ward, prompting vigilant staff to act fast and relocate patients and personnel to adjacent wards. According to the then-superintendent Shivanand, eight patients were under treatment in the ward at the time of the mishap, but no one was harmed. These recurring incidents are raising serious questions about safety protocols at KGH.
