Drugs mix in Hyderabad New Year celebrations

New Year celebrations were held on a grand scale across Hyderabad, with pubs, bars, and clubs witnessing heavy footfall. However, amid the festivities, a few incidents raised concerns among authorities.

Police reported that a DJ artist working at a city pub tested positive for drugs and was taken into custody for further investigation. In a separate operation, the SOT police conducted raids in the Rajendranagar area under Narsingi limits and seized around 5 grams of cocaine.

Meanwhile, Hyderabad traffic police intensified drunk-and-drive checks across the city. Tests were carried out in areas such as SR Nagar, Ameerpet, Abids, Gunfoundry, Basheerbagh, IMAX, and Domalguda. Vehicles were stopped at multiple points, and action was taken against those found violating traffic and safety norms.

Authorities stated that strict enforcement was necessary to ensure public safety during large-scale celebrations.
