Dharani-Bhu Bharati Scam: 15 Arrested, Further Action Expected

Sunpreet Singh revealed that 15 people have been arrested in connection with the Dharani and Bhu Bharati scam, which has created a sensation in Telangana. He stated that nine other accused are absconding. He identified Basavaraju and Jella Pandu as the main accused. He said that investigations revealed that illegal registrations had taken place in Jangaon and Yadadri districts, and that the frauds were committed through online service centers in Yadagirigutta.

The CP explained that the scam resulted in a loss of approximately Rs. 3.90 crore to the government exchequer. He said that the accused exploited technical loopholes in the website to carry out the illegal activities. He revealed that Rs. 63.19 lakh in cash and lakhs of rupees in bank accounts have been seized from the accused. He also stated that property documents worth approximately Rs. 1 crore, a car, laptops, desktops, and cell phones have been confiscated. He mentioned that special teams are searching for the absconding accused and that more arrests are likely in this case.
